The very first Cash Crusaders opened its doors to the public in Plumstead, Cape Town, in 1996. Founder Brent Topat and CEO Sean Stegmann are both actively involved in the running of the business, with Brent focusing primarily on importing and sourcing stock and negotiating best-price deals.

Today, the Cash Crusaders brand is 206 outlets strong and boasts an established footprint in Namibia and Botswana. The concept under the spotlight
Cash Crusaders outlets retail quality second-hand items as well as a range of directly imported new goods including electronic goods, DJ equipment, large appliances, furniture and small household goods.

As a registered credit provider compliant with the National Credit Act (NCA) of 2007, Cash Crusaders offers their customers access to secured loans and a 3-month lay-by option. Cash Crusaders also offers clients the option to sell or pawn online, by completing the easy online steps on their website.
Although the extensive range of products and services available from Cash Crusaders allows trade with a diverse customer base, customers typically fall in the LSM 6 to 10 category.

The ideal location for the establishment of a Cash Crusaders outlet requires a steady flow of foot traffic. To achieve sufficient foot traffic counts, Cash Crusaders considers the proximity of anchor tenants such as national supermarket chains during site selection.

In a typical outlet a hands-on owner will require the assistance of seven staff.

Cash Crusaders has established regional offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth while the head office is based in Cape Town. Initial franchisee training is conducted in-store over a six to 8-week period, affording franchisees the opportunity to become intimately acquainted with the business model and all aspects related to the day-to-day running of a store.
