Enhancing your environment

Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Since its inception in 1992 Ecomist has specialised in providing environmental automatic insect and odour control, fragrancing and hygiene products for commercial and domestic use. With operations in New Zealand, Australia, Korea, the Philippines and numerous other countries in the Far East, Ecomist is the principle producer of environmentally friendly insect and odour control products globally.

With this technology now available locally, South Africans have the opportunity to participate in this attractive business opportunity. Ecomist is authorised for use by the South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and is approved by the New Zealand and Australian Food Associations.
The concept under the spotlight
The Ecomist business model is based on owner-operated outlets, a premium quality brand and a complete range of maintenance services and affords its franchisees the opportunity to earn an annuity income through regular aerosol sales. Franchisees enjoy area exclusivity and benefit from the lead referrals generated and administered by the franchisor. Franchisees can also access an alternative income stream by promoting Ecomist’s value-add products to allied markets.

Ecomist products release natural pyrethrin via a programmable battery operated dispenser that has proven itself effective in even the most demanding environments. In addition to their unobtrusive and stylish design, Ecomist’s product range includes innovative features such as a computerised dispenser valve, low battery power usage and remote control operation. On the default setting the Ecomist dispenser will last a month, releasing pyrethrin aerosol 24 hours a day. This setting can be adjusted to accommodate each household’s or business’ requirements.
Their core target markets include homes, schools, nursing homes, retailers, food establishments, bed and breakfast and hotel enterprises, corporate business parks and farms. Contracts are administered on a month-to-month basis, but fixed term contracts are available if the required by the client.

As an owner-run enterprise the initial staffing requirements are minimal, but as the business expands, technicians and auxiliary staff can be employed. By running their start-up business from home franchisees experience a distinct cost saving.

Consider your support
During the six month period of on-site hand-held training provided by the franchisor, new franchisees are trained in all aspects of marketing, technical know-how and the administrative aspects of providing quality service. Franchisees are also trained by the Ecomist technicians on their methods of servicing so as to ensure a smooth and successful transition in the case of existing clients.

The franchisor’s customer base includes many clients whom they service directly. When a franchise is established in an area with an existing client base, the clients and the benefit of the established customer base is transferred to the franchisee.

Do you fit the profile?
Preference will be given to candidates with prior business experience or current business owners wishing to expand their market offering. Franchisees must be comfortable interacting with people from all walks of life and must be willing to travel to visit customers.
