Strengthening women

FASA Member
Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Through their unique approach to women’s-only fitness and weight loss, Curves empowers women to reach their goals and by extension educate their communities on the importance of healthy living. The first Curves was opened in 1992 in the USA and the concept of women’s-only fitness centres grew rapidly through the USA and other parts of the world. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as The World’s largest Fitness Centre Franchise, the Curves Concept has grown to over 7,000 locations across 90 Countries.

The first South African franchise was opened in 2005. Today their 75 outlet strong network serves 20,000 women daily and Curves remains the leader in the 30-minute, three times a week strength and cardio exercise market. Curves offers members a safe and supportive environment to exercise in with measurable results.
The concept under the spotlight
It is estimated that obesity affects more than 525-million people worldwide. Since opening its doors in 1992 Curves has helped millions of women live healthier, happier lives and as a Curves franchisee they will teach you how to join the fight. Curves franchisees are required to manage their business within the guidelines and parameters of the Curves business format. Their highly efficient, simple-to-learn business model is designed to maximize return on investment.

Because no two women are the same, Curves products are not one-size-fits-all. Their profitable products mix-and-match to meet every member's needs.
With its innovative 30-minute workout that incorporates fitness, strength training, weight loss and nutritional guidance, the Curves gym concept is aimed at the female demographic.

Consider your support
Franchisees have access to the Curves proven business system, the ongoing research and development conducted by the franchisor and the franchisor’s highly skilled and knowledgeable staff who assist with operational matters and provide training, both initially and on an ongoing basis. To help jump-start their Curves opportunity, the Curves Club Development Support Program provides training by experts in club ownership.

Franchisees are required to complete a pre-opening training program conducted at the Curves training facility. Club Camp is a week-long programme conducted by experts that teach guests producing techniques and member retention. In addition, new franchise owners are provided with a computer-based program that sets out all the procedures and processes for operational areas within their club. At the discretion of the franchisor periodic training seminars are conducted to keep franchisees abreast of new developments in their industry.

Advertising and marketing levies contributed by franchisees are allocated to relevant marketing activities at the discretion of the franchisor.

Do you fit the profile?
The ideal Curves franchisee is a full-time, hands-on owner-operator with a passion for women's health and fitness who is skilled in sales and marketing, people management, effective stock management and possesses general business acumen.
